Blog Backing Up

Blog Backing Up

by Tasha Turner

This week I learned the importance of backing up your blog. Had a bit of a technical issue and it will take a little while for me to fully recover our blog. Thankfully we have not blogged a lot so there are not a lot of posts to recover. The hard part is making sure the permalinks are the same as they were so all links to our blog still work as I put the posts back up.

What did I learn. 1st thing to figure out when you set up your blog is how to back it up. And then back it up each time you make changes.

Thursday’s review should go up as usual. Back posts will go up as I can get to them. Thanks all for your support during the last few days.

It’s a harsh lesson Tasha and we’ve all done it at some time or other.

Why is it important to rplace old blog links and what all else need to be saved on websites.. I hate this happened to you but at least now those of us that are new can learn to safeguard ours (((hugs))

The reason it is important for me to make sure the names of files/links are the same is because a number of people have shared/pointed people to specific posts we’ve written and those links are broken. If I simply post the old posts back but do not make sure the links are identical all the links out there now pointing to our website will continue to be broken. If I make sure the links/file names are the same as they were then all the links currently out there point to each post will work again and it will be as if nothing ever happened to my website.

Hey Tasha, I have had to learn that backing up work is important too.. we always hear about it but don’t realize it can happen to us until we lose our work and then think, wow it really CAN happen to us! Awe, you are a fighter. I love that you don’t let this hole you back! :)

Thanks Christy. This year does seem to be a test of how much can I be hit with and bounce back from. I figure if an 18- wheeler could not keep me down for more than a couple of weeks nothing can. Now let’s hope g-d does not take that as a challenge because I’d be ok with a month of smooth sailing.
