Ask anyone in the business and they will tell you if you are going to blog keep to a blog schedule. A specific day a week or a month, something your readers can count on. But what happens if say something out of your control happens like, well you get in a major car accident and don’t have access to a computer for a few weeks? What do you do then?
Well I can tell you what I did. Not what I should have. I should have had someone like Lisa Alford or Jess Williams or Joyce Rosenfield post a quick note to let you all know what had happened. But we did not want to shock or worry anyone and by the time we figured out the wording I was on the road to recovery and that required a new set of wording and then we thought I could write it and… Yeah so for almost 3 weeks my blog lay dormant until a few days ago when Lisa posted a book review.
So to recap. 1st step when an unexpected emergency hits is either post yourself or find someone who can do a really quick post just to let people know that you’ve had a personal emergency and won’t be blogging but hope to be back soon. This is important as it let’s your readers know you did not fall of the face of the earth.
Step 2 – as soon as possible after the emergency get back onto your schedule and post something useful and if you think they would want to know give the bare bones about the emergency… In my case I had a major car accident of which I remember little, recovery is going well, and we should be back to business as usual as of this post.
So tell me what do you want to know about social networking? What has you most puzzled? What do you think is most time-consuming? How can I help you?
