Tri Destiny Indiegogo Campaign

I have been learning so much lately. Running my 1st Indiegogo campaign for Tri Destiny Publishing / Beth-Ann Mason to attend RomFest 2012 is probably some of the best cognitive therapy I could be getting as the more I have to challenge myself the better.

We managed to raise 1/4 of the money needed by day 22. I had read all the literature, all the tips, everything about running a good campaign and was feeling pretty stupid as I seemed to be doing everything right and yet we seem stuck. Even with more than 40,000 people seeing tweets and FB and sharing it with their friends. We have raised ~500 of the $1,900 minimum we need.

My Attempts to Improve Our Results

I took advice and changed perks, that got a few donations and then nothing again. So last night while writing an update it came to me that maybe I was focusing on the wrong parts and so I have rewritten large portions of the information and hope in the next few days to find the energy to do a completely new movie. We are making sure to include all writers in Tri Destiny to donate a piece of writing in the $100 perk. I’ve researched hashtags to get the word out to people that might be willing to make donations.

This is shaking my confidence as it is something I was feeling fairly confident in pulling off. I have another one to run starting June 1st.

Help I Need from You

If people would go look over the campaign and tell me why you are not making even a small $1-5 donation it would be a great help as this is something that I want to get better at.  Check out  Indiegogo  and then come back here and comment on what you think I could do better. Share the campaign if you think it is a good cause. This is my co-author and publisher and I want to see them succeed.

Would you consider using something like this in order to have books for signings or for charity events or swag items? Please help me continue to learn and understand. Thanks in advance for your help.

Truthfully I don’t think you need to change anything. Just maybe participate in some more Twitter chats and keep sharing the page and different times of the day. Don’t forget that people come on Twitter and Facebook at different times of the day. Don’t forget to account for people in different time zones.

Thanks DeAnna we have been sending out at different times. It is getting a lot of tweets, retweets, and shares. Just not many donations. Over 30k people have seen it which is why I feel I’m doing something wrong. I really had expected many more $1-5 contributions especially given how widely published it has been.

Tasha, you’re not necessarily doing something wrong. It is a tough economy for fundraising for any cause. People are hanging onto their wallets in the last few years than more they were before. I fundraise for the BC Lung Assn every year to take part in a cycling benefit. We have to raise a certain amount. This year, because of difficulties raising the amount in last 2 last years, I have been saving myself and will have a donation receipt. I think many charities are experiencing donor fatigue.

Generally I agree with you. But I see people raising tons of money on indiegogo for projects and the author involved has a lot of supporters who if they donated $5 would see us on the way. So I feel like I must be doing something wrong as they are neither donating nor sharing the campaign.
